Lauren has always had a passion for inclusion, children with additional needs and helping others. As an adolescent she volunteered her time twice a year (for close to 13yrs) to go on a family camp where she would look after children with additional needs during the day time whilst their parents received respite. Lauren has always had a specific interest around Autism and ironically is now a mum to two autistic boys which is how she found Different Journeys, first as a carer and then quickly jumped on board with the team.
Lauren is always happy to share her knowledge of what has worked for her family, her own journey of self-care and advocacy for autistic individuals.
Different Journeys would like to acknowledge the traditional owners of the different lands on which we meet today. We respect all Aboriginal Elders past and present We aim to collaborate with our Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander friends in the autistic community to connect, empower and support each other and exchange isolation, prejudice and ignorance with connections, hope and community. We acknowledge that the connection to autism and lived experience is our common ground. We acknowledge, respect and maintain that our custodians have cultivated these lands and we continue to learn together.
